TrueVision ® Systems, Inc. today announced that it received clearance 510(k) USA and Drug Administration (FDA) food ® TrueVision 3D visualization and market-orientated system.
The new system combines the system of 3D visualization of current TrueVision ® TrueWare ™ 3D Imaging OS with new, proprietary software that runs TrueVision ® refractive cataract toolset ™. Guidance is provided surgical computer-aided to the surgeon during procedures such as corneal limbal relaxing incisions (LRI) to correct astigmatism, Utrata and positioning toric intraocular lens (IOL). Preoperative and postoperative 3D image capture is also enabled by new TrueVision ® platform together with slit lamp biomicroscopes in the clinical setting for surgical planning.
Launched in 2008, TrueVision ® 3D visualization system is a surgical system high definition viewing stereoscopic 3D showing the field of view in real-time on a flat 3D in the operating room. This allows that the surgeon operate a "heads up" looking at a big screen instead of from traditional ocular microscope, providing better ergonomics and a viewing experience more immersive to the surgeon. The system also uses to record surgical 3D video for educational purposes and provide on-demand streaming video surgical 3D content at medical meetings.
"This groundbreaking innovation is the first of its kind that represents a new generation of tools orientation equipment for interactive surgery," said Forrest Fleming, Executive Director. "We are very encouraged by what our initial clinical studies have shown on the screen using refractive orientation for several important aspects of cataract surgery."
"Toolset refractive cataract ™ enables more precise surgery", said Mark Packer, MD, FACS, ICC, a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Sciences health & Oregon. "When you use virtual orientation in the live 3D image to adjust custom a Utrata and limbal relaxing incision in the eye of the patient." The set of software tools enables you to place virtual reference points in surgical live view which displays appropriate incision arcs in the limbus for astigmatism correction. For the first time I can guide precisely my data based pre-operative surgery. "I don't have to worry about ink brands since guidance templates display centration, alignment and precise axis".
