Global Personal Care Appliances Market to Reach 515.58 Million Units...

San Jose, CA (Vocus/PRWEB) February 11, 2011

With consumers becoming increasingly conscious about their health and looks, several personal care appliances have become a part of their routine life. Hair dryers and curling irons are well accepted in the market, while massagers, trimmers, and electric toothbrushes are fast gaining popularity, worldwide. Hair clippers, hair setters, and shaving systems with technologically advanced features are penetrating the market with a full swing. Innovation is boosting demand for hair care appliances. Advanced hair care systems featuring more add-ons than ever before are increasingly being favored. Hair care appliances blended with innovative features to provide extra sensitive hair care experiences are being introduced into the market. In the dryers segment, the trend favored more powerful dryers and those with more value added features.

After visualizing tremendous growth potential in oral care segment, many companies began foraying the market with innovative products. Greater efficiency and economical prices made electric toothbrushes a better option against other oral care products. Western Europe has been a major contributor to the strong global performance and demand for oral care appliances is also strong in Asia-Pacific, Latin America and Eastern Europe. One of the major challenges faced by companies active in the global oral care sector is the high market penetration. In order to avoid commoditization of products, manufacturers are coming out with new and effective methods to distinguish and single out their brands and to carve out new niches within existing markets. With regard to hair removal products, rising consumer awareness is compelling manufacturers to design and develop new razor products that meet the wide-ranging shaving demands of male consumers. Changing trends in facial hairstyles, have had a significant impact on the market for beard and mustache trimmers. The younger generation’s preference for shorter hair, has led to a boom in the market for trimmers.

A handful of well-known brands dominate various segments of personal care electrics market. The influx of low-cost, low-end products in the oral care category has affected market dynamics. Rapid innovations in the power-assisted technology have allowed manufacturers to develop differentiated products, in terms of innovation, and pricing. Since the beginning of the decade and until 2008, the market traversed on a steadily increasing growth path, enabled by these factors. Even during the global economic recession the market continued to grow, albeit at a slower pace, and as world economies revived, it witnessed the quickest rebound and fell back on track in 2010 with pre-crisis level growth rates. As opposed to the developed western markets, fast emerging economies in Asia-Pacific and Latin America are poised for overall fastest growth in the next few years. Consumers trading down to low-priced alternatives and increase in sales of private label products were few notable recession induced trends in the personal care appliances market. However, ignoring the trend that has been gaining momentum, manufacturers continued to innovate and flood the market with higher-end products maintaining that consumers are not price sensitive.

Europe, powered by strong demand from markets such as Germany, UK, France and Eastern European countries is positioned as the single largest regional market for personal care appliances, as stated by the new research report on Personal Care Appliances. The US and Asia-Pacific (inclusive of Japan) trail behind as the other major markets for personal care appliances in terms of sheer size. The Asia-Pacific market is also significant in that it is forecast to surge ahead at the fastest CAGR of 4.0% through 2015. By product group, the Hair Care Appliances dominates the market, garnering a lion's share, supported by sustained demand for hair dryers and curling irons. However, with respect to growth pace over the assessment period, the Oral Care Appliances product group is projected to take the lead, expanding at the overall fastest compounded growth annually for 2007-2015.

Key participants profiled in the report include Colgate-Palmolive, GABA GmbH, Conair Corp, Helen of Troy L.P, HoMedics Inc, Johnson & Johnson, Lion Corp, Panasonic Corporation, Royal Philips Electronics NV, Norelco Consumer Products Company, Procter & Gamble, Braun GmbH, Remington Products Company, Russell Hobbs Inc., Sanyo Electric Company Limited, Groupe SEB, Waterpik Technologies Inc, and Wahl Clipper Corporation.

San Jose, CA (Vocus/PRWEB) January 04, 2011

Rising consumer awareness about the dietary significance of whole grain and high fiber foods is one of the major factors contributing to higher consumption of such foods. With several studies corroborating the harmful impact of diets involving high proportion of processed foods, consumers are awakening to the need for healthy food into their daily diet. There is progressively increasing consumer awareness about adoption of wholesome and healthy food habits to promote digestive and cardiovascular health in dire necessity in today's extremely hectic lifestyle. The shift in consumer perception and trends can be attributed to greater investments towards consumer education, promotional activities and availability of products with improved intense tastes and flavors.

The release of the new Dietary Guidelines in the US, as well as the MyPyramid food guidance system are expected to push up the sales of healthy food products, particularly those involving whole grains. The impact of these specifications is not just limited to the US, but is expected to significantly alter the consumption trends across the world. About 100 million Americans suffer from borderline or high cholesterol levels, further enhancing the significance of cholesterol lowering diet involving whole grain and fiber. The significance of healthy foods is gaining momentum, with growing health concerns pertaining to childhood obesity, geriatric nutrition and diabetes. The trend has compelled manufacturers to develop new and innovative products to keep pace with the burgeoning demand for such foods. Though both whole grains and fibers are vital for ensuring optimal health benefits for human beings, whole grains are being featured extensively as they are also abundant in fiber content. Lately, consumers have shown preference for natural panaderías and sandwiches comprising vitamins, whole grains and fiber.

Cereals tend to be the predominant choice of breakfast in the US, UK and Australia. In these countries, the market is highly competitive with higher levels of expenditure on product promotions. About 35% of the global cereal product launches in the year 2009 claimed to be functional cereal with health benefits. Usage of whole grains and reduction of fat and sugar levels were some of the most popular claims in the new products rolled out during the year. Similarly, the inclusion of fruits in cereal was another widely prevalent trend, aiming to give a healthier image makeover to cereal. Despite decreased popularity of organic products in the US and Europe, new product launches in the category were apparently unaffected. New organic product launches in the cereal segment, doubled between the years 2007 and 2009. Blended flours are gaining popularity among consumers wishing to eat whole grains but averse to the taste, flavor and texture of whole grain flour or products.

There was marginal impact of the economic slowdown on global whole grain and high fiber foods market. The overall market experienced slower growth rates during 2008 and 2009 compared to 2007. Bread to baked food considered an essential staple in most of the economies, withstood the recessionary impact fairly well. In 2009, global bread products (at retail level) sales increased by over 5% over 2008. Breakfast cereal was another category, which fared suitably during the crisis period, and was preferred over other morning foods owing to the nutritional content and economical pricing. Nevertheless, despised the increase in demand for cereals, manufacturers of branded breakfast cereal faced challenging times as consumers looking for value, traded down to less-expensive private-labels.

The United States constitutes the largest regional market for whole grain and high fiber foods, as stated by the new market research report on Whole Grain and High Fiber Foods. The dominance of the US market is likely to continue, backed by increased adoption of rice, wheat, barley as well as various specialty grains among consumers, nutritionists and dieticians. Europe and Asia-Pacific trail as the next major markets follow. Demand for whole grain and high fiber foods in Asia-Pacific is projected to grow at the overall fastest compound growth rate of 6.0% through 2015. The increasing health orientation among the upper and middle class consumers in the developing regions would drive the urban demand for value-added products.

By product, cereal represents the largest segment, while Baked Food is poised to emerge as the fastest growing market over the analysis period. The increasing demand for natural bakery products with ingredients such as fiber and whole grain is expected to fuel the overall demand for baked food.

Key market participants profiled in the report include Cargill, Inc., Cereal Ingredients, Inc., ConAgra Foods, Inc., Creafill Fibers Corp., Fiberstar, Inc., Garuda International, Inc., Grupo Bimbo, S.A.B. of C.V., General Mills, Inc., Gilster-Mary Lee Corporation, Grain Millers, Inc., GTC Nutrition, Hodgson Mill, Inc., International Fiber Corporation, j. RETTENMAIER & SÖHNE GmbH + Co. KG, Kellogg Company, Kerry Group Plc, Kraft Foods, Inc., Malt-O-Meal Company, Matsutani America, Inc., MGP Ingredients, Inc., Nestlé S.A., New World Pasta Company, ORAFTI Group, PepsiCo, Inc., Quaker Oats Company, Ralcorp Holdings, Inc., Sara Lee Bakery Group, Sensus America LLC, Watson, Inc., among others.
